3 ways to protect your skin from the sun

As most people are aware, the ultraviolet (UV) rays that are emitted by the sun can be incredibly hazardous to our skin and overall health. While this is not the information many people to want to hear, it is important to be extra cautious whenever you are going to spend a great amount of time someplace where you will be in direct contact with the sun. This is especially true during the hot summer months, when the sun presents the greatest risk.

Here are a few ways to keep yourself protected from the UV rays:

  • Cover up: Even when you are at the beach, it is important for you to wear enough clothing that can keep your skin shielded from the sun. Make sure that you are appropriately dressed no matter where you find yourself throughout the day.
  • Enough sunblock: If you are going to be spending time outside during the summer, it is crucial that you wear the appropriate amount of sunblock the entire time. If you go too long without lathering up – or not using a high-enough SPF number – you will end up sizzling and regretting the decision when you get home with painfully burned skin.
  • Window coverings: Even when you are spending time in your home, it is possible to be effected by the sun's UV rays. To keep yourself safe – as well as protecting your furniture from the sun's damaging effects such as fading – you should have your home's windows tinted.
